23 April 2018 - The Hunt's Joseph Dooley was in the cast of Evita at Langley High School over the weekend 26-28 April. It was truly a fantastic production with incredible talent and a beautiful set, designed by a Langley student.
18 April 2018 - The community suffered a loss today with the passing of Sue Guadagnoli, an original owner and member of the Board of Directors.
1 April 2018 - We have a new website (as you are noticing!). Our web host has changed their business template necessitating the new look. We should be able to maintain this site more easily and expect new features to be added over time.
One of the changes that is less obvious will be that we no longer have individual email addresses to provide the residents. This is a minor change since in the five years we did have them available, no one used one! This is NOT the forwarding email addresses, e.g., email@example.com, etc. Those email addresses continue to be good and can be viewed on the Email page under Technical Info.
But wait, there's more! A new section has been added to capture the names of past members of the Board of Directors. The difference between the Board and Officers can be somewhat confusing, but it's really quite simple: the five Board members are elected by the homeowners and are the ones who vote and make the decisions for all of us. The Board appoints officers after each election and it is the officers who carry out the direction of the Board of Directors.
1 April 2018 - An oldie from 2014, resurrected from our news archives: Light up the night! Every now and again the Board raises the issue of adding street lights to the neighborhood. And every time we discuss it, we come to the same conclusion: it's too expensive. As an alternative, we could all keep the streets illuminated at light if we would simply turn on our front porch and garage lights during the hours of darkness. The neighborhood would look amazing and residents out for an evening stroll (as well as vandals) would be more visible. If you don't feel you can keep them on all night, please keep them on until at least 11pm. Thank you!
1 April 2018 - We don't have a page on our site to pass along kudos to residents--we do it here--and I want to take this opportunity to recognize Kent Holland who has put in numerous hours of back-breaking work cleaning up the east-side park. Every time a storm comes through all manner of tree limbs and debris ends up on the soccer field. Kent spends hours cleaning up the mess and making the field usable for us all. I'd further like to note that it was his efforts, along with another major contributor to the beauty of the neighborhood, Jim Isler, that cleared out a huge mess of limbs and debris along the creek last year, making it a much nicer place to look at and perhaps even eliminating some of the mosquito nesting areas! Well done Kent and Jim!
9 March 2018 - At the annual meeting of Hunt homeowners and residents, a new Board was elected. Please visit the HOA Leadership page for more information.

Since the establishment of the Hunt's website, these significant events, activities, and notes have appeared on the Hunt website, a.k.a. what WAS hot.
17 May 2015 - There's a new Farmer's Market in town. Smart Markets Tysons is open Sundays, 10am to 2pm, at 8400 Westpark Dr (the parking lot of the NADA organization). It's pretty small at this point, but there is a GREAT BBQ there. Uncle Fred's BBQ has a brisket to die for (and more). There are plants, nuts, many other farm fresh goods and more. Kathy Czaban recently sent out a message to everyone on the list-serve about this market. Check it out!
17 Feb 2015 - Got something good to say about a local business? Send it to your webmaster and I will post it on a new page in the Around McLean section--the Kudos Page. In accordance with the proven leadership adage, "Praise publicly and admonish privately", we will post positive reviews and comments only!
8 Nov 2014 - Light us up! If you don't feel you can keep them on all night, please keep them on until at least 11pm. Thank you!
5 Nov 2014 - We are deeply saddened by the loss of our neighbor, Mary Dettra, on Monday morning. Mary and John Dettra were married for 58 years, were original owners in the Hunt, and raised four sons together. John and Mary provided music for many of the Hunt's annual dinner events. A viewing and visitation will be held Friday, 7 Nov, 6-8pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church. Services will be held at noon on Saturday, 8 Nov, at Church of the Brethren, 300 N. Montague Street, Arlington. Our sincerest sympathies and condolences go out to John and his family.
10 Oct 2014 - Still looking for our new residents and homeowners! We went through a huge effort this past summer to update our directory and get everyone joined to the list-serv. Of course, the passage of even just a few months inexorably brings changes and makes the list out of date. If you are new to the Hunt or have not been receiving list-serv emails (and there have been 2-3 over the past week or so), please send your email address to the webmaster so we can get you added. If you have a new neighbor, please tell them about the website and encourage them to reach out to the webmaster to get connected. Everyone has raved about the list-serv--don't be left out!
7 Jul 2014 - Our HOA President, Jim Isler, placed a survey on or near your mailbox on this date. In it he included a number of announcements and, more importantly, outlined a number of areas where help is needed for the neighborhood, both physical and intellectual. We hope many of you volunteered for one or more of the items he outlined. Active participation in the HOA, as a volunteer, officer, or a board member, is essential for the health of the neighborhood and the resilience of our home values.
16 Jun 2014 - Rev 1 of the Hunt Directory was emailed the evening of 15 June via the list-serv. The next publication will be in March after the new slate of Board members and officers is elected. If you did not receive a copy of the directory in your email, your email address may not be subscribed to the list-serv. Contact the webmaster to subscribe.
1 Jun 2014 - The McLean Hunt Directory is out! Thank you to everyone for assisting in its completion. It was emailed to everyone using the list-serv on 1 Jun 2014 and will be posted in the Documents area of the website for easy reference anywhere you have access to a browser.
29 May 2014, we got our 10,000th visit to the Hunt website today!
25 May 2014 - McLean Hunt List-serv: The list-serv is now in full operation with 134 subscribers--nearly every home in the Hunt can be reached by a single email. You will be able to use this to send alerts to all 116 homes in the Hunt at once, or to send a message asking for recommendations from your neighbors for a plumber or landscaper, or to search for a good babysitter. Please refer to the Technical Info page, updated 25 May 2014, if you have questions on what a list-serv is or how to use it. Please note that only subscribers to the list-serv are allowed to send to it, so don't worry that you will receive spam from commercial entities. Only Hunt homeowners and residents are allowed to use the list-serv.
